I came across Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) when I had some negative beliefs myself, that I could not shift, the emotion that was attached to these beliefs were so strong and were such a drain on my life and were also stopping me from moving forward in my life. I had only one session of EFT my beliefs and the negative emotion was gone too. I found the results amazing and so decided to train in it myself and use it often with my life coaching clients to shift any beliefs or negative emotion that is holding them back.
What is Emotional Freedom Technique?
In essence, EFT is an emotional version of acupuncture wherein we stimulate certain meridian points by tapping on them with our fingertips. Our bodies have a profound electrical nature. This electrical system is
vital to our bodies, we cannot it as we can not see the electrical
wiring in our homes but we know it is there.It is based on the premise that "the cause of all negative emotion is is a disruption in the body's energy system". It is a combination of verbal statements whilst "tapping" or stimulating energy points in the body. This stimulation removes the negative emotional component from the memory, event and dispels the unwanted disrupted energy. This leads to a smooth, rebalanced flow of energy in the meridian system.
The principles behind EFT were discovered by Dr Roger Callahan, a clinical psychologist of over 40 years. All his life he had been working to find ways to cure people and finally came across some techniques that had amazing repercussions. Dr Callahan, discovered Thought Field Therapy or the Callahan Technique. A student of Dr Callahan called Gary Craig who was a Stanford engineer, simplified the technique and came up with his streamlined version which everyone could use, Emotional Freedom Technique.
